NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB JUMPS OUT EARLY IN WIN OVER ATHENS (January 22, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportROME — NEB used a fast start to down Athens, 42-33, during NTL girls’ hoops action Thursday.
The Panthers led 14-6 after one and kept the Wildcats at arm’s length the rest of the way.
Leah Beebe had 18 points, and five steals for NEB, as Mallorie Maynard notched seven points, five boards, five assists, and two steals.
Katrina Russell finished with six points, and six rebounds, with Kara Dughi getting five points, and two blocks.
Izzy Kapr finished with four points, while Aurelia Kolesar had two points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
McKenna Jarvis led Athens with 21 points.
Beebe started off hot, scoring eight of her team’s 14 first quarter points, then netted seven of her team’s nine second quarter points as the Panthers took a 23-15 lead at the half.
Athens chipped away in the third, out scoring NEB 8-7, as Maynard had four to lead the Panthers.
NEB would out score Athens 12-10 in the fourth with six different players scoring.
NEB won the JV game 32-31.
NEB (11-2) will host CV on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. start.
