THE WEEK AHEAD: D4 DUALS WEEK WITH NTL HOOPS RETURNING TO DIVISIONAL PLAY (January 26, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportIt’s District IV Duals week while NTL hoops comes back to divisional play. All five area wrestling teams will be in action Wednesday, with a trip to the quarterfinals at Milton on the line.
WRESTLINGTuesday, January 27Wyalusing at Horseheads, 7 p.m.: The Rams hit the road for their regular season finale. Earlier in the season Horseheads fell to Towanda.
Wednesday, January 28Troy vs Hughesville at Mifflinburg, 6 p.m.: Troy used a strong end to the season to get into district duals, where they’ll face last year’s runners-up in Hughesville. The winner will face top seed Mifflinburg at 7:15 p.m.
Towanda at Southern Columbia, 7 p.m.: The Knights hit the road as the 12th seed with them taking on the fifth seeded Tigers.
NEB at Line Mountain, 7 p.m.: The 13th seeded Panthers return to district duals action as they head to fourth seed Line Mountain.
Canton at Williamson, 7 p.m.: The battle of the Warriors with Canton, the 11th seed, heads to take on Williamson, the sixth seed. Williamson won the first meeting.
South Williamsport at Wyalusing, 7 p.m.: The seventh seeded Rams are the only local team to get a home date as they take on 10th seeded South.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALLTuesday, January 27NP-Liberty (7-8) at Troy (13-3), 7:30 p.m.: The final cross-over game of the season for the Trojans who are closing in on their third straight NTL title. Troy comes in on a 7-game win streak.
NEB (12-2) at Towanda (13-3), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers come in with an 11-game win streak, not having lost since December 17 at Troy. Towanda is coming off a close win over Canton; they’ll need a win here if they want to keep their NTL title hopes alive.
Wellsboro (4-12) at Canton (12-4), 7:30 p.m.: The Warriors are battling for both a league title, and a top three spot in the district standings. They’ll need a win here to keep pace with Canton (NTL) and Northwest (districts).
CV (3-13) at Wyalusing (9-7), 7:30 p.m.: The Rams are coming off a tough loss to Delaware Valley over the weekend as they battle for playoff positioning.
Thursday, January 29Troy (13-3) at Wyalusing (9-7), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojan won the first meeting, though the Rams beat Troy at home a year ago.
Towanda (13-3) at Athens (6-9), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights head north as they take on a tough Wildcats team that is battling for their postseason lives. Towanda won the first game in a defensive slugfest.
NEB (12-2) at NP-Liberty (7-8), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers head to the Mounties in their first meeting of the season.. NPL is 3-1 over the last four games.
Canton (12-4) at CV (3-13), 7:30 p.m.: The Warriors head west as they look for the season sweep.
Saturday, January 31Williamson (5-10) at NEB (12-2), 2:30 p.m.: The Panthers play their third game in five days - all league contests - as they go for the season sweep.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Wednesday, January 28Towanda (13-3) at NEB (14-2), 7:30 p.m.: The two division leaders face-off. The Panthers are coming off wins over NP-Mansfield, and Athens, while Towanda is 3-2 over their last five.
Troy (9-6) at NP-Liberty (11-5), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans are 4-1 in their last five as they take on a surging NPL team that has won six straight.
Wyalusing (5-9) at CV (5-12), 7:30 p.m.: The Rams are 2-3 in their last five while CV is 1-5 over their last six.
Canton (0-16) at Wellsboro (7-8), 7:30 p.m.: The Warriors take on a Wellsboro team that is 1-3 in their last four games.
Friday, January 30Athens (9-6) at Towanda (13-3), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights fell up at Athens just a couple weeks ago, while the Wildcats look to break into the top spot in the divisional standings with a win.
Wyalusing (5-9) at Troy (9-6), 7:30 p.m.: The Trojans look for the season sweep while Wyalusing will be fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
NEB (14-2) at NP-Liberty (11-5), 7:30 p.m.: NPL pulled away for a win at NEB back in early January. An NEB win helps solidify their hold on the NTL Small School standings, while a Mountie win throws it into chaos.
Canton (0-16) at CV (5-12), 7:30 p.m.: CV won the first meeting 60-41 as the Warriors look for their first win of the season.
Saturday, January 31Troy (9-6) at Wellsboro (7-8), 7:30 p.m.: The Hornets won the first meeting at Troy as the Trojans look to even the season series.

Thursday, January 29NEB at Sayre, 5 p.m.: The Panthers head to the valley for their final dual meet of the season.
Saturday, January 31NEB, Towanda at Williamsport Showcase: The best teams in District IV will face-off on the mat a couple weeks for the District IV Championships.
