NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: TROY RALLIES PAST NP-MANSFIELD (February 2, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TROY — Troy kept their NTL Large School title defense alive as they rallied past NP-Mansfield, 60-51, during NTL boys hoops action Monday.

The win keeps them two games behind divisional leader Towanda, and one game back of the Tigers and Athens.

“After a slow start to the first quarter, the team responded well,” said Troy coach Craig Sheeley. “I think we were down 12-1 to start the game. The game was completely different from the defensive battle we had in Mansfield. It was a great team win that saw the whole team contribute on both ends of the floor.”

Trey Teribury had 18 points and four assists to lead Troy as Spencer Martin notched 11 points, five boards, and five assists.

Cameron Morey and Aidan Lawrence had eight points each, as Morey also had nine boards, and three assists, while Lawrence nabbed four caroms.

Josiah Pesesky and Landon Cole had five points each, James Roy had three points, and two steals, while Pryor Teribury added two points.

Andy Hermansen led NPM with 20 points.

After falling down 12-1 Troy out scored NPM 7-5 the rest of the first quarter thanks to five points from Trey Teribury.

NPM led 19-12 early in the second quarter but Troy closed it to 19-18 behind a 6-2 run, thanks to back to back 3-balls from Trey and Martin.

NPM would get some breathing room for a 28-22 lead, followed by Troy cutting it to a 3-point game with a 3-ball.

The Tigers would out score Troy 4-2 down the stretch for a 32-27 lead at the half.

A Roy 3-ball to open the third made it 32-30, followed by a pair of Lawrence free throws tied the game up.

Lawrence then bagged a 3-pointer to give Troy their first lead of the game, followed by a Morey bucket to make it 37-32 Trojans.

NPM then rallied to take a 40-39 lead but a Lawrence dive, followed by a Pesesky free throw put Troy up 42-40 going into the fourth.

A Martin 3-ball, followed by a bucket from Pesesky pushed the Troy lead to 47-40.

Back to back Hermansen buckets cut it to 47-45, but a Trey 3-pointer made it a 5-point game.

It stayed a 5-point deficit until a Morey steal and bucket made it 54-47 Troy with 2:35 to go.

The two teams traded free throws, then Trey got a breakaway to make it 57-48 with 33 seconds left.

An NPM 3-ball cut it to 6-points but two freebies from Pryor, followed by one from Martin, sealed the win for Troy.

Troy (12-7) will have another chance to climb the standings when they travel to Towanda on Wednesday.
