NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: WYALUSING USES BIG SECOND QUARTER TO PULL AWAY FROM WELLSBORO (February 3, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — After a slow start Wyalusing pulled away from Wellsboro for a 62-21 win during NTL girls’ hoops action Tuesday.
The Hornets led 10-9 after the first quarter, but a 19-point second frame by the Rams put them up 28-15 at the half.
Wyalusing went on to out score Wellsboro 34-6 the rest of the way.
Treanna Nickeson had 18 points to lead four Rams in double figures. Emily Johns notched 16 points, Alysha Botts had 13, with Brinley Sterling getting a career high 11 points.
Liz Kilmer chipped in with four.
Kate Bryant had six points for the Hornets.
The Rams jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter only to watch the Hornets rally with seven straight points to go up by two.
Wyalusing would tie it up at 7-7, but Wellsboro took the lead with a free throw for an 8-7 lead. The Rams got a bucket for a 9-8 advantage but a basket from the Hornets with two seconds left on the clock gave them the 1-point lead at the first horn.
Botts had four points in the frame to lead Wyalusing.
The two teams were tied at 12 early in the game, then the Rams went on a 10-0 run to go up 22-12.
After a Wellsboro free throw Wyalusing added seven more points for the 28-15 lead.
Nickeson and Johns had eight points each to push the Rams to the 13 point lead.
In the third Wyalusing had nine field goals, led by Nickeson scoring nine points, as Botts added five, to secure the win.
Wyalusing (11-8) has clinched a playoff berth as they travel to NP-Mansfield on Thursday.
