NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA USES BIG SECOND HALF TO ROLL PAST WELLSBORO (February 5, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — After a slow start Towanda pulled away from Wellsboro, 55-24, during NTL girls’ hoops action Thursday.
The Knights led just 6-5 after one, but used a 15-point second quarter to open up a 21-16 lead at the half.
They went on to out score the Hornets 34-8 in the second half.
Brynn Woodruff had 14 points and six boards to lead Towanda, as Mya Maynard notched 12 points, nine boards, and two steals.
Payton Perry had 10 points, six steals, and three assists, as Reese Sullivan added seven points.
Mary-Kate Eberlin finished with six points, and four steals, while Karis Flynn, Taylor Aquilio, and Kennedy Heyer had two points apiece. Flynn nabbed three steals, as Maris Cobb grabbed two.
Katie Bryant had nine points to lead Wellsboro.
After the low scoring first frame Maynard had six to lead Towanda in the second quarter, while Sullivan notched five.
The Knights came out strong after the half, scoring 20 in the third behind seven from Woodruff, as Perry scored five to take a 41-19 lead into the final frame.
They outscored Wellsboro 14-5 in the fourth behind six from Woodruff.
Towanda won the JV game 47-16 behind 21 from Cobb.
Towanda travels to Wyalusing on Saturday night with a trip to the NTL Showcase on the line.
