NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: CANTON HAS BIG OFFENSIVE NIGHT IN LOSS TO NP-LIBERTY (February 6, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLIBERTY — Canton had their best offensive game of the season in their finale on Friday as they fell to NP-Liberty, 81-55, during NTL boys hoops action.
The Warriors jumped out to a 21-16 first quarter lead, while the Mounties rallied to take a 36-33 advantage at the half.
NPL extended the lead to 57-47 after three, then out scored Canton 24-8 in the fourth to get the win.
Monte Whitehead had 17 points to lead three Canton players in double figures, with Ryder Route adding 15, and Drew Holton scoring a career high 10 points.
Teyton Thompson added six, Jack Whitehead netted four, and Kix Carr rounded out the scorers with three.
Evan McTish led five Mounties in double figures with 22 points.
Five different Canton players scored in their big opening quarter, led by six from Monte Whitehead, and five out of Route.
Route netted five more in the second quarter, with Monte scoring four as they found themselves down by three going into the third.
Route stayed consistent in the third, netting five more points, though Landon Mattern hit three 3-balls en route to 11 points to help NPL extend the lead.
Monte had five points in the final frame to lead Canton.
