COLLEGE: WYALUSING'S WOODRUFF WINS AMCC TOURNAMENT (February 15, 2026)
BY BRYAN SEYMOURNorthern Tier Sports ReportCollege wrestling at some open tournaments for some local wrestlers. North Penn Liberty’s Brayden Pequignot and Riley Oakes wrestling at the Messiah Open for Millersville. Wrestling for Penn College, Wyalusing’s Nick Woodruff was at the AMCC Invitational.
Wrestling at the Messiah Open, was Riley Oakes and Brayden Pequignot. Pequignot started his day against Lain Yapoujian (Unattached). Pequignot would lose by a 15-0 technical fall in 2:27. In the consi round #2 facing Dalton Monger of Messiah, Pequignot again takes the loss by fall in :28 seconds. Pequignot ends his day 0-2.
Also wrestling at the Messiah Open, Riley Oakes faced Jackson Albert of Patriot Elite Wrestling Club where he would fall in 1:52 by pinfall. In his first consi round Oakes faced Garret Fowler of Messiah where Oakes secured the 21-5 technical fall in 4:50 to continue his tournament. Facing Jason Dubrasky of Gettysburg, Oakes wins by default in 2:24. Next up for Oakes was Joshua Wong of Marymount, where he dropped his match by a 23-7 technical fall in 6:22 to end his day. Oakes finished his day 2-2.
Penn College was in action at the AMCC Invitational. Nick Woodruff squared off against Caleb McCollum of Penn State Behrend in the quarterfinals and won by fall in 1:06. In the semi-finals, Woodruff faced Hunter LaVigne of Alfred State College. This time Woodruff gets the win by a 16-0 technical fall in 3:34. In the finals, it was Woodruff with the fall in 1:06 over Abraham Keep of Penn State Behrend to claim the title, and going 3-0 on the day.
At the Lock Haven MatTown Open II, Wyalusing’s CJ Carr opened his day against Tahir Parkins of Rutgers, where he dropped a 19-3 technical fall in 5:41. In the consi round, Carr won by 18-2 technical fall in 4:57 over Jayden Sanchez. In the next round of consi’s, Carr faced Hayden Cunningham of Penn State-Unattached by major decision 8-0. Carr ends his day 1-2.
