NTL WRESTLING: CANTON'S ROCKWELL, VERMILYA BOTH GET INTO THE D4 SEMIFINALS (February 20, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Canton had two wrestlers reach the semifinals after the first day of the District IV Boys Wrestling Tournament Friday.
Carson Rockwell (160) and Levi Vermilya (107) are both into the final four for their weights, and guarantee themselves a spot in the regional tournament next weekend.
Blane Wesneski (172), Carson Castle (121), Gavin Sharp (133), Leland Pepper (189), and Tommy Preston (145) are all in the consolation round.
After getting a bye Rockwell pinned Milton’s Chase Lyle in 1:37. He’ll face Midd-West’s Evan Maneval in the semifinals.
Vermilya also got a bye, then pinned South Williamsport’s Garrett Bacorn in 3:07. He gets Montoursville’s Branden Eisenhour in the semis.
Pepper opened the tournament with a fall over Mt. Carmel’s Chance Swatski in 1:42, but was then pinned by Montoursville’s Hayden Harvey in 1:24.
Wesneski won by fall over Southern Columbia’s Caius Morrow in 3:35, but then fell 9-3 to South Williamsport’s Jayden Hamm in the quarter.
Preston lost his first match 4-1 to Mifflinburg’s Lane Kenamond, while Sharp lost by fall to Lewisburg’s Landon Michaels in 2:49. Castle lost by fall to Mifflinburg’s Griffin Walls in the prelims.
Wrestling continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
