NTL WRESTLING: WYALUSING'S FOX TAKES DISTRICT SECOND, FOUR HEADED TO REGIONALS (February 22, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Wyalusing wrestling picked up a silver medal, a bronze medal, and saw a total of four wrestlers get on the podium at the District IV Wrestling Championships Saturday.

Daniel Fox (215) came in second, Cole Patrick (133) took home third, Ethan Vanderpool (189) was fifth, and Jonathan Earle (152) took seventh.

“I thin we did good,” Patrick said about his team. “We had a goal of five getting through, and we got four. I think Cole wrestled well after the semifinal, I think Danny wrestled phenomenally. I think they wrestled great. I think where the bracket broke out for Jonny Earle, yes he’s in seventh, but I think he’s really top four in that bracket right now, so we’ll make those adjustments this weekend and go from there.”

Fox opened Saturday with a big 12-9 win over Line Mountain’s Jacob Schwalm to get into the finals where he lost 17-2 to Mifflinburg’s Landon Tucker.

“There were some early season mind set and change in attitude, and he’s really stuck with that,” Patrick said about Fox. “It’s starting to show.”

For Fox this was a bit of a redemption run.

“It feels really good because last year when I was in this position I kind of choked a little bit,” he said. “Coming back this year just feels amazing.”

That’s twice now that he’s gotten Schwalm in big matches. He got the come from behind fall during the District IV Duals that propelled Wyalusing into the top four, and now again in the district semifinals.

“I wasn’t expecting to win all at all, but I’m glad I got it,” remarked Fox.

Patrick lost his semifinal 21-5 to Mifflinburg’s Bradley Wagner, but then came back with a 9-0 win over Towanda’s Bryghton Yale in the consolation semifinals.

In the third place match Patrick scored a 9-4 decision against Lewisburg’s Landon Michaels.

Vanderpool and Earle battled through the consolations to get through.

Vanderpool got back to back pins over Montgomery’s Gage Furman (2:33) and Cole Gerber (3:22) to get to the consolation semifinals.

He lost 14-7 to NEB’s Asher Kolesar there, but then rebounded for a 9-8 win over Canton’s Leland Pepper in the fifth place match.

Earle opened the consolations with a 4:03 fall over Mifflinburg’s Gradyn Shuck, but then lost 6-2 to Montgomery’s Trace Furman in the consolation semifinals.

In the seventh place match he pinned Troy’s Hunter Watson in 43 seconds.

Freshman Griffin Sheldon (139) nearly made it to regionals, taking eighth.

In the first round of consolations he rolled past Sullivan County’s Wyatt Bagley 17-3, then lost to Mifflinburg’s Ben Straub 15-0 in the consolation quarterfinals.

In the seventh place bout he lost by fall to Lewisburg’s Nolan Altoft.

Conner Earle (172), Logan Wood (107), and Reuben Kinney (145) all went 0-2.
