NTL WRESTLING: WYALUSING'S FOX HOLDS ON FOR BLOOD ROUND WIN TO PUNCH HIS TICKET TO STATES (March 1, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Wyalusing’s Dan Fox won a tight blood round match to punch his ticket to the PIAA Championships during the Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday.

“It feels awesome,” said Fox. “At the beginning of the year, if you told me I was going to be going to states, I wouldn’t believe you.”

Fox was pinned in his semifinal match by Line Mountain’s Jacob Schwalm in 1:55, but rebounded to beat Hughesville’s Colton Woolever 5-3 in the consolation semifinals to get to the bronze medal match.

There he lost by fall to Southern Columbia’s John Quinton in 2:01 to take fourth.

Fox taking second at districts set him up well this weekend, and also opened his eyes.

“I was just like, I’m the top guy,” he said. “I can be here, and I can put the work in just as much as these guys are, and make it out.”

In the blood round match after a scoreless first period Woolever took a 1-point lead with an escape in the second.

Fox tied it up with an escape to start the third, then 30 seconds later broke through with a takedown for a 4-1 lead.

Woolever would reverse him haflway through the period to make it 4-2, then Fox got an escape point with 57 seconds to go to take the 3-point lead.

From there he held off Woolever for the win.

“This is where my season makes or breaks,” said Fox. “I’ve got to win this match if I want to keep playing.”

Fox said he has plenty to work on to get ready for states.

“I’m going to focus on my head, hands, and defense a lot,” he said. “I need to get real better there, a lot better.”

Having taking second at districts, and now fourth at regionals, Fox feels confident going down to states.

“I feel like I have as good of a chance as everybody else down there,” he said.

Unfortunately for his senior teammates it was heart break.

Cole Patrick (133) and Jonathan Earle (152) both lost in the blood round.

Patrick lost a high scoring match with Mifflinburg’s Bradley Wagner, 18-13, in the semifinals, but then fell 7-4 to Lewisburg’s Landon Michaels in the blood round.

He pinned Towanda’s Bryghton Yale in 35 seconds to take fifth.

Earle battle through the consolations, getting a 15-0 win over Loyalsock’s Kayden Keefer, then followed that up with an 18-0 win over Berwick’s Jacob Geuriorro.

He faced Montgomery’s Trace Furman in the blood round, and got pinned in 4:39. Earle then lost his fifth place match, 15-3, to Valley View’s Tywone Giles to take sixth.

Fellow senior Ethan Vanderpool (189) lost 12-4 to Milton’s Michael Runkle in the first round of consolations.
