NTL WRESTLING: CANTON'S ROCKWELL TAKES BRONZE AT REGIONALS, HEADED TO STATES (March 1, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — After just missing a state berth last season Canton’s Carson Rockwell wasn’t going to be denied this year, as he took third at the Northeast Regional Saturday.

“It’s good to finally do what I wanted to do,” Rockwell said.

Rockwell (160) got into the semifinals on Friday but was pinned by Warrior Run’s Reagan Milheim in 1:20 there this morning.

In the blood round he won 7-0 over Hughesville’s Kile Hartman to punch his ticket to states, then pinned Western Wayne’s Gavin Morcom in 1:27 to get the bronze.

“That (semifinal) win helped me out,” said Rockwell. “It really helped me to get to that third and fourth place match.”

He was pretty confident going into the bout with Hartman.

“I’d already beat him twice so I knew that I just had to do it again,” Rockwell said.

Rockwell scored a first period takedown late and never let up the momentum.

“After that first takedown, when I rode him out that period, I felt pretty confident after that,” explained Rockwell.

He’ll avoid a preliminary at states and get a bye to the first round.

“I will probably work on bottom, and a little more of a cast tank,” he said.

Tommy Preston (145) came up just short, falling in the blood round and ultimately taking sixth.

He got wins over Southern Columbia’s Gavin Richard (9-6) and Lake Lehman’s Jackson Scott (4-1) in the consolations but fell 6-1 to Midd-West’s Charley Paige in the blood round.

Lackawanna Trail’s Mark Rebmann pinned him in 3:45 in the fifth place match.

Leland Pepper (189) pinned Southern Columbia’s Greg Fulmer in 1:48 in the first round of consolations, while Blane Wesneski (172) lost 11-3 to Hanover’s Gregory Vassallo.

Levi Vermilya (107) lost 14-9 to Muncy’s Gannon Swank in the opening round of consolations.
