HERSHEY — NEB’s Anaiah Kolesar made quick work of her first round opponent to advance to the quarterfinals during the PIAA Girls Wrestling Championships Thursday.

Kolesar pinned East Stroudsburg South’s Arianna Pieretti in 3:53 to get into the elite eight.

“It feels good,” Kolesar said. “I like to get the first match nerves out of the way.”

Pieretti came out strong off the whistle but Kolesar defended off her attacks, then went to work with a takedown.

“I was just staying good position, and really getting to my offense,” said the senior. “I didn’t feel out of control (of the match).”

After Pieretti got an escape Kolesar got a second takedown for a 6-1 lead.

Kolesar got a third takedown to start the second then turned her for the fall.

She’ll face Plum’s Saphia Davis in the quarters on Friday. A win there will put her into the semifinals during the evening session.

“I really want to try to make it through to the finals tomorrow,” she said. “So just making sure I’m wrestling good, feeling my body, and staying sharp. Getting by this first match really, really helps.”
