NTL GIRLS WRESTLING: NEB'S KOLESAR ROLLS THROUGH QUARTERS AND INTO SEMIFINALS (March 6, 2026)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportHERSHEY — NEB’s Anaiah Kolesar continued her romp through the PIAA Girls Wrestling Championships as she rolled past Plum’s Saphia Davis 9-0 in the quarterfinals Friday morning.
“It feels very nice,” said Kolesar. “I know last year I lost in the quarters, and I didn’t want to be in that position again. My sophomore year I was in the semifinals, so I just remembering how much training I’ve been putting in, and being here to share this moment with my friends and family - it’s really exciting. I’m super grateful.”
Kolesar worked the ties hard to her advantage off the whistle, eventually getting to Davis’ leg and behind her for a first period takedown.
“Hand fighting is one of my biggest, strongest suits, so I’m making sure I’m getting to my attacks,” she said. “I don’t like being separated from them, I like having my hands on them at all times.”
She did the same for second and third period takedowns for the shutout win, then rode Davis out in each period.
“I defiantly got to some positions where I shouldn’t have been there,” explained Kolesar. “I kicked myself, like, ‘what are you doing, get out of this position - you don’t need to be there.’ I want to get the positions I want, and stay in those positions.”
She’ll face Bishop Shanahan’s Shannon Logue in the final four at 7 p.m. tonight.
First, though, she’ll be taking a quick trip to Hershey’s Chocolate World to satiate the inner woman.
“We’ll be planning to eat there,” Kolesar said. “Probably a lot of chocolate.”
