SULLIVAN COUNTY FALLS TO COVENTRY CHRISTIAN IN STATES (March 7, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Sullivan County boys hoops saw their season come to an end as they fell to Coventry Christian, 58-48, during the first round of the PIAA Class A Boys Basketball Championships Friday.
The Griffins fell down 18-9 and watched as the Eagles built a 45-28 lead going into the fourth.
With their backs against the wall Sullivan rallied in the fourth, netting 20 points, but the hole was too deep.
Cayden Smithkors had 13 points, eight boards, and four assists to lead Sullivan, as Jaiden Moore had 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting.
Colin King added eight points and 10 boards, as Tucker Blasi had six points, to go with four rebounds.
Dom Marotti, Carter Blasi, and Lucas King had three points each, with Lucas getting three steals. Ryan Murray chipped in with two points.
Bryce Carrein had 24 points to lead Coventry.
The Eagles hit three 3-balls in the first quarter en route to their big lead, then scored 18 more points in the second quarter to take a 36-16 lead at the half.
The Griffins started the rally in the third, out scoring the Eagles 12-9, behind nine points from Smithkors.
Seven different Sullivan players scored in the fourth quarter during their final rally, but Coventry netted 13 points to keep ahead.
Sullivan ends the season 22-5.
