NTL BOYS TRACK & FIELD: CANTON TAKES THIRD AT SEASON OPENER (March 26, 2026)

ATHENS — Lawrence Halbfoerster won the 800-meter run to lead the Canton boys' third-place effort at the season-opening NTL boys track & field quadrangular meet at Alumni Stadium here Wednesday.

Wellsboro won the meet with 114 points, followed by Athens with 108, Canton with 36 and Sayre with seven.

Halbfoerster posted a time of 2:08.76 for the Warriors’ lone victory. He was also second in the 1600 run, clocking 4:50.84.

Wyatt Hilton placed second in three events. He hurled the discus 120-5, the javelin 113-5, and heaved the shot put 41-9.

John Whitehead logged a pair of runner-up showings in the hurdles, running the 110 event in 18.17 seconds and the 300 race in 48.26 seconds.

The Warriors’ 4x400 relay took third with a time of 4:08.96 and the 4x800 relay was third in 10:12.54.

Manuel Halbfoerster claimed fourth place in the 800 in 2:21.48 while Landon Lake was fifth in the 800 with a 2:21.54 and Elton Weingartner took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 94-8.
