NTL BASEBALL: BIG THIRD INNING PROPELS NEB PAST SULLIVAN COUNTY (April 4, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — NEB used a big third inning to down Sullivan County, 11-1 in five innings, during non-league baseball action Saturday.

Sullivan scored in the top of the first, and held the Panthers at bay until a 2-out rally in the third saw NEB take a 7-1 lead.

They finished the game with four more runs in the fifth.

Kohen Hugo was strong for NEB on the mound and the plate, going all five innings to strikeout seven with one hit, no walks, and one unearned run. In the batter’s box he was 3-for-3 with 3-RBI, and two runs scored.

Will Chappell (2-for-2) had 2-RBI with two runs scored, as Nate Gross (1-for-3) drove in three runs with a run scored.

Wes Alderfer (1-for-1) scored twice, and had 2-RBI, as Anthony Johnson also crossed home twice. Cooper Hugo, and Tyler Goodenow both scored, as Tanner Judson had an RBI.

Tucker Blasi scored the run for Sullivan County.

In the third Alderfer led off with a lead-off walk, followed by Chappell bringing him in with an error off his bat. Cooper Hugo then walked, setting up Kohen Hugo’s RBI single.

Johnson would walk to load the bases, but after back to back strikeouts it looked like Sullivan would end the threat with minimal damage.

Gross, though, got the rally restarted with a 2-RBI single, followed by a walk to Goodenow. Alderfer then had a 2-RBI hit, followed by Chappell adding an RBI single for the seventh run.

In the fifth Alderfer drew a 1-out walk, followed by Chappell singling. After a second out Kohen Hugo brought them in with a double.

Four straight walks would score Kohen and Johnson to end the game.
