NTL SOFTBALL: TROY FALLS IN WALK-OFF AT WELLSBORO (April 8, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Troy lost a walk-off heartbreaker against Wellsboro, 9-8, during NTL softball action Wednesday.
It was back and forth all game long with the Hornets going up 1-0 in the first.
Troy came back with two runs in the top of the second, but a 3-run bottom half from Wellsboro saw them take a 4-2 lead.
Troy got one back in the third, then out scored Wellsboro 2-1 in the fourth for a 5-5 game.
The Hornets retook the lead with a run in the fifth, then the two teams scored two runs each in the sixth as Wellsboro kept their 1-run lead.
Troy tied it back up in the top of the seventh only for the Hornets to get the walk-off in the bottom half.
Haidyn Watson (1-for-4) had a triple, with three runs scored, and an RBI as Maddyson Muir (1-for-3) drove in three runs.
Izzy Renzi (1-for-5) had an RBI, with Sydnee Bellows scoring twice. Lauren Reed, Aubree Kenyon, and Aleiyah Kutt also crossed home.
Watson struck out five in the circle while allowing four walks, nine hits, and nine runs, one of which was earned.
In the second Kenyon was hit by a pitch, followed by Kutt drawing a walk. After two outs Renzi singled in Kenyon, then Kutt scored on a wild pitch for their brief 2-1 lead.
In the third Watson reached on an error, then scored on a Muir single.
In the fourth Troy went with two outs as Bellows was hit by a pitch, followed by Watson and Reed drawing walks.
Muir was hit by a pitch, bringing in Bellows, followed by Watson scoring on a passed ball for a 5-4 lead.
In the top of the sixth Watson would reach on an error, followed by Reed getting hit by a pitch. Muir would drive in Watson on a ground out, followed by Reed scoring on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Kenyon for a 7-6 game.
In the top of the seventh Bellows drew a 2-out walk then scored on Watson’s triple to knot the game up.
In the bottom half Mazie Johnson drew a lead off walk, then came all the way around on a throwing error to win the game.
Troy (1-3) travels to Williamson on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. start.
