NTL BASEBALL: CANTON USES BIG THIRD INNING TO DOWN NP-MANSFIELD (April 9, 2026)

CANTON — Canton broke a 2-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over NP-Mansfield during NTL baseball action Thursday.

The two teams had two runs each in the first inning, but the Warriors used a 5-run third inning to take control of the game. 

NPM would chip away, scoring two runs in the fourth, and one in the fifth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Bailey Gardner (2-for-2) had a triple with two runs scored, and an RBI, as Reed Taylor (1-for-2) drove in two runs.

Daniel Inman (1-for-3) had an RBI as Trapper Burr scored twice. Lucas Crawley scored and drove in a run, with Rylan Wesneski also crossing home. Aaden Dowling (1-for-3) also had a hit.

Gardner started, and went an inning with two strikeouts, two walks, one hit, and two earned runs.

Taylor came for the next 3 1/3-innings for the win, striking out one with one walk, four hits, and three earned runs.

Grant Jennings tossed the final 2 2/3-innings with no strikeouts, two walks, two hits, and no runs.

In the first Burr was hit by a pitch, followed by Gardner drawing a walk. Both scored on a Taylor single for the 2-2 after one.

Burr would lead off the third with a walk, then scored on a Gardner triple. Taylor then drew a walk with Inman bringing in Gardner on a ground out.

An error off the bat of Crawley scored Taylor’s courtesy runner, Leeland Tubach, to make it 5-2.

After a second out an error off the bat of Wesneski allowed Crawley to come home. Dowling would single to keep the inning going, with Wesneski later scoring on an error.

Canton (3-4) travels to Troy on Saturday with an 11 a.m. start.
