BY CHRIS MANNING
Northern Tier Sports Report
All area girls hoops teams had success this year, with Troy and NEB earning league titles, and the Trojans making history with their program’s first ever state win.

The Lady Trojans were led by the two-headed monster of Giana Renzi and Kyah Renzo. Renzi ran the offense and averaged 10.7 PPG, 4.3 APG, and 2.7 SPG, while Renzo led the attack on offense and defense, with 12.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 3.6 SPG, making the duo the Bradford County All-stars Co-Players of the Year.

NEB senior Leah Beebe continued to pour in points despite her small size, scoring inside and outside for the Panthers as she eclipsed the 1,000 point plateau this year with a season average of 13.6. She also added 4.8 APG and 3.8 SPG to be the Offensive Player of the Year.

Canton was one of the best defensive teams in the league, and leading the way for them was Cailyn Van Noy. She averaged 4.7 SPG while also putting 16.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 3.3 APG to be the Defensive Player of the Year.

Wyalusing’s freshman Jenna Morningstar came in right away and made an impact with 9.2 PPG and 9.7 RPG, using her size and athleticism on both ends. She’s the Newcomer of the Year.

Troy made history on the season as they claimed their third straight NTL Large School title, took third in districts, and made it to the Sweet 16 at states, making coach Steve Renzi and his staff the Coaching Staff of the Year.
