NTL SOFTBALL: WATSON, KNAPP LEAD TROY PAST CANTON (April 11, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTROY — Haidyn Watson hit two home runs while Erinn Knapp tossed a no-hitter as Troy defeated Canton, 8-1, during NTL softball action Saturday.
Watson (2-for-4) hit a pair of solo shots while Knapp struck out five with three walks, and one unearned run.
The Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, then tacked on four more in the second. They would make it 6-0 with two runs in the fourth.
Canton got on the scoreboard with a run in the fifth, with Troy getting that one back in the bottom of the sixth.
Izzy Renzi (1-for-4), Lauren Reed (1-for-3), and Sydnee Bellows (1-for-4) all scored and drove in a run, as Knapp (2-for-4), Delaney Kendall (2-for-4), and Danielle Roy (1-for-3) also crossed home. Renzi and Reed each had doubles.
Maddyson Muir (2-for-4) and Aubree Kenyon each had an RBI.
Tara Gilbert scored the Canton run off a Tiffany Acla RBI, as Raya Preston struck out one in the loss with two walks, nine hits, and eight runs, two of which were earned.
In the first Watson hit a 2-2 offering over the left field fence with two outs to put the Trojans up 1-0.
In the second Kendall and Roy hit back to back 1-out singles to get the rally started, then were brought home on a Renzi double.
Renzi scored on a Bellows hit, then Bellows came home on a 2-out double from Reed.
In the fourth Watson belted her second homer, this time on the first pitch with one out for the 6-0 lead.
Reed then reached on an error, followed by back to back singles from Knapp and Muir to bring Reed in.
Gilbert would lead off the fifth with a walk, then scored three batters later on a Tiffany Acla ground out.
Troy’s final run came as Reed, Knapp, and Muir all reached on errors, with Knapp scoring on a Kenyon ground out for the 8-1 final.
