Northern Tier Sports Report
CANTON — Errors doomed Canton as they fell 8-4 to CV during NTL baseball action Thursday.

The Indians barely out hit Canton, 6-5, but the Warriors had five miscues while CV was clean.

It was 1-1 after one, with CV adding another run in the second, then pushing four across in the top of the third to take a 6-1 lead.

Canton rallied with two runs in the bottom half. After two scoreless innings CV tacked on two more in the sixth.

The Warriors rallied in the bottom of the seventh, putting one run up, but couldn’t get any closer.

Trapper Burr (1-for-4), Bailey Gardner, Daniel Inman, and Brayden Tucker all scored for Canton as Inman, Leeland Tubach, and Owen Moore (1-for-3) each had an RBI.

Lucas Crawley (1-for-1), Rylan Wesneski (1-for-4), and Aaden Dowling (1-for-2) all had hits.

Gardner started and went 2 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, two walks, four hits, and six runs, four of which were earned.

Reed Taylor tossed one-third of an inning with one hit, while Burr went the final four innings with two strikeouts, one walk, one hit, and two unearned runs.

Canton started their first inning at bat with three straight walks - Burr, Gardner, and Taylor all got passes to the base paths.

After an out a fielder’s choice off the bat of Tubach plated Gardner for a 1-1 score.

In the third Burr led off with a hit, then Taylor drew a walk two batters later. An Inman ground out brought in Burr.

Later in the inning Tucker, running for Taylor, scored on a steal of home for a 3-run difference.

In the seventh Canton loaded the bases with a walk to Inman while Crawley and Wesneski had hits.

After a second out was made Moore singled in Inman for an 8-4 score, with CV ending the game with a pop out on the next at bat.

Canton (3-6) travels to Millville on Saturday.
