NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON FINDS THEIR BATS IN BIG WIN OVER MILLVILLE (April 18, 2026)

MILLVILLE — Canton softball broke a 4-game losing streak with a 21-4 win over Millville in five innings during non-league action Saturday.
The Warriors jumped out early with a run in the first, then put up two more in the second. Canton added another in the top of the third only for Millville to tie things up with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
That’s when Canton took control of the game with 10 runs in the top of the fourth, then tacked on seven more in the fifth for the win.
Lindley Sechrist (3-for-5) had a triple with 3-RBI, and three runs scored to lead the Warriors as Jaylee Ward (2-for-4) had a triple, with 4-RBI, and three runs scored.
Raya Preston (2-for-4) had a double with 4-RBI, and two runs scored, with Lucy Proseus (2-for-3) had a double with 2-RBI and two runs scored.
Skylar Gowin (2-for-2) scored twice with Neveah Vroman (2-for-5) hitting a double with an runs scored.
Tiffany Acla (1-for-2) scored twice with an RBI as Amelia Pepper (1-for-1) had 2-RBI with a run scored. Tara Gilbert (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored, as Lexi McMurray (1-for-1) scored a run.
Emilee Walker scored twice and drove in a run, with Trinity Acla (1-for-2) getting a hit. Emma McGhee also added a run.
Preston struck out five in the win, allowing five hits, one walk, and four runs, three of which were earned.
In the first Ward hit a 2-out triple then scored on a Preston hit for the 1-0 lead.
Walker led off the second with a walk, then two batters later Proseus kept the rally going with a single. An error off the bat of Trinity Acla led to a Tiffany Acla single that scored Walker.
A Sechrist ground out brought in Proseus for the 3-0 lead.
In the third Vroman hit a single, followed by Walker drew a walk. Two batters later Proseus hit a 2-out double that scored Vroman to make it 4-0.
Acla led off the inning by reaching on an error followed by Sechrist hitting a single. Both scored on a Ward hit to make it 6-4.
Preston would reach on an error, then Walker was hit by a pitch two batters later to load the bases. That set up a Gilbert hit that scored three to break the game open 9-4.
Gilbert would score on an error off the bat of Proseus for a 10-4 ball game. Gowin got a hit to keep the inning going, followed by Acla reaching on an error.
Proseus would score on a wild pitch then Sechrist brought in Gowin and Acla with a triple for a 13-4 ball game.
A Ward ground out would plate Sechrist for the 10-run lead.
McGhee would lead off the fifth with a walk, followed by back to back hits from McMurray and McGhee to load the bases.
Pepper then singled in McGhee and McMurray for a 16-4 ball game.
Sechrist got a hit to keep the at bat going, followed by Ward drawing a walk to bring in Gowin. That set up Preston’s 3-run double for a 20-4 score.
The final run came when Preston scored on a Walker ground out.
Canton (3-6) will travel to NEB on Tuesday.
