NTL BASEBALL: TROY FALLS LATE TO HUGHESVILLE (April 18, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
SHAMOKIN — Troy nearly made a first inning running stick as they saw Hughesville rally in the fourth for a 4-1 win during the first round of the Shamokin Baseball Tournament Saturday.

The Trojans scored in the top of the first and held that lead until the bottom of the sixth, when the Spartans pushed four across.

Troy out hit Hughesville 3-2 but had two errors while the Spartans played clean.

Mason Smith (2-for-3) scored as Brendan Gilliland (1-for-2) had the RBI.

Frank Harper started, and went four hitless, shutout innings with five strikeouts and four walks. Hunter Watson tossed the next 1 1/3-innings with no strikeouts, three walks, one hit, and three runs.

Brendan Gilliland came on but didn’t record an out, allowing three walks and one run. Vinnie Colton tossed two-thirds of an inning allowing one hit.

Gage Webb got the win for Hughesville, striking out 10 with one walk, three hits, and one earned run as he went the distance.

In the first Smith led off with a single, then scored two batters later on a Gilliland hit. Troy would put two on in the top of the sixth but that was the only other time they had base runners.

During Hughesville’s rally they induced five walks in seven at bats.
