BASEBALL: TOWANDA DROPS GAME AT SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT (April 20, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Towanda baseball fell to South Williamsport, 6-3, during non-league action Monday.
South jumped out early with three runs in the bottom of the first. The Knights responded in the top of the fourth with three runs of their own, but the Mounties struck back with three more runs, then held Towanda the rest of the way.
Brad Assante (1-for-3) scored, and drove in a run as Shane Maghamez (1-for-3) and Gabe Wolf also crossed home.
Avery Butts (1-for-3) drove in a run, as Lucas Vincent (1-for-4) added a hit.
Assante started, and went 3 1/3-innings with four strikeouts, five walks, seven hits, and six runs, four of which were earned.
Boom Thompson tossed 1 2/3-innings with one strikeout, and one walk, while Maghamez pitched the final inning, allowing one walk.
In the fourth Vincent led off with a hit then was forced out at second on a Maghamez fielder’s choice.
An error off the bat of Gage Evans put two on, with Assante singling in Maghamez to get the Knights on the scoreboard.
Wolf, running for Evans, would score on a Butts hit, followed by Assante scoring on a wild pitch.
Towanda (4-4) hosts NP-Mansfield on Tuesday.
