NTL BOYS TENNIS: TOWANDA DROPS CLOSE ONE TO WELLSBORO(April 21, 2026) Northern Tier Sports Report WELLSBORO — Towanda made it close with Wellsboro during NTL boys tennis action Tuesday, falling to the NTL champs 3-2 on Tuesday.
Black Knight Bayley Poll stayed undefeated with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Luke Rothermel at first singles.
The Hornets swept the rest of the singles - Mason Brill defeated Matrix McCarter 6-1, 6-0 at second singles. James Doughtie beat Kellen Colton 6-0, 6-1 at third singles, and Gideon Lawton won 6-0, 6-1 over Emma Ackley at fourth singles.
In doubles action Towanda’s team of Poll and McCarter beat Rothermel and Brill 6-3 at first doubles while at third doubles Towanda’s duo of Ethan Lane and Levi Snyder beat Liam Elkin and Karter Campbell 6-4 to get the doubles point.
Wellsboro’s team of Doughtie and Jack Hammerton beat Brody Hennessy and Travyn Lewis 6-3 at second doubles.
