NTL SOFTBALL: PRESTON CYCLES AS CANTON TOPS SAYRE (April 22, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — Freshman Raya Preston hit for the cycle as Canton rolled past Sayre, 19-2 in four innings during NTL softball action Wednesday.
Preston (4-for-4) had a home run, a triple, and double with 6-RBI, and four runs scored while Lucy Proseus (4-for-4) also had a strong day with two doubles, a triple, 5-RBI, and three runs scored.
It was a 4-2 game after the first inning with the Warriors scoring five more in the second. They pushed three across in the third, then exploded for seven runs in the fourth for the 17-run difference.
Jaylee Ward (1-for-2) had a triple, 3-RBI, and four runs scored with Tara Gilbert (1-for-2) hitting a double with a run scored, and an RBI.
Cyan Hugo (1-for-2) had a double with two runs scored, and an RBI, as Lindley Sechrist (1-for-2) scored twice.
Tiffany Acla (1-for-4), Amelia Pepper, and Nevaeh Vroman all scored as Lexi McMurray (1-for-2) and Ally May (1-for-1) each drove in a run. Trinity Acla (1-for-2) added a hit.
Preston struck out four in the win, allowing one walk, five hits, and two earned runs.
In the top of the first Tiffany Acla opened up by reaching on an error, but was later caught stealing home.
She was followed by back to back walks to Sechrist and Ward. After a second out Preston hit an inside the park home run for a 3-0 lead.
Proseus followed that up with a double, then later scored on an error.
Tiffany Acla opened up the second with a hit, followed by Ward reaching on a walk two batters later. An error off the bat of Vroman loaded the bases.
Acla would get caught at home but Preston singled to keep the inning going. That set up Proseus’s 3-run double, then Proseus scored on a Gilbert double for an 8-2 lead.
Gilbert scored off a McMurray hit to make it 9-2.
The Warriors went with two outs in the third as Ward reached on an error, followed by Hugo doubling. Preston would double both in, then scored herself on a Proseus triple to make it 12-2.
In the fourth McMurray reached on an error, followed by Acla reaching on an error two batters later. A Sechrist single would load the bases.
Ward cleared them with a triple to make it 15-2, then scored on an error off the bat of Hugo.
Preston finished up the cycle with a triple, which scored Hugo, then scored herself off a Proseus hit. Two batters later Proseus scored on a May hit for the 19-2 final.
