NTL SOFTBALL: NEB USES BIG SECOND INNING TO DOWN SAYRE (May 4, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — NEB softball rolled past Sayre, 2-2 in three innings, during NTL action Monday.
The Panthers led 4-2 after one, then exploded for 14 runs in the second inning. They would score three more in the third for the win.
Orissa Gardner (4-for-4) had two doubles, four runs scored, and 6-RBI to lead NEB as Madilyn Callear (3-for-4) scored four times.
Zoey Thetga (2-for-4) scored three times with 2-RBI as Mackenzie Clark (1-for-3) had a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Kristina Larnard (2-for-3) scored twice, and drove in a run, as Ava Lambert (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored, and an RBI.
Karmyn McPherson (1-for-3) scored three times, with Izzy Kapr scoring twice and driving in two runs.
Brianna Pelka (1-for-1) had an RBI as Jaylin Wheaton scored, and had an RBI. Charity Coon (1-for-1) had a hit with Madyson Thompkins driving in a run.
Larnard struck out one in the win with three walks, four hits, and two runs.
Callear opened up the game with a hit, then Thetga reached two batters later on an error. Gardner then drove in Callear with a single for the 1-0 lead.
After a second out Larnard drove in Thetga and Gardner to make it 3-0, with Larnard later scoring on an error off the bat of Wheaton for the 4-0 ball game.
Kapr would reach to start the second, followed by Callear singling. McPherson would get hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Kapr would score on a passed ball, followed by Thetga driving in Callear with a hit for the 6-2 lead.
Gardner then doubled in two runs to make it 8-2. A Clark double would plate Gardner for a 9-2 ball game.
Larnard singled to keep the rally going, followed by Wheaton driving Clark home. A Lambert double would plate Larnard, followed by Wheaton and Lambert coming home on an error off the bat of Kapr for a 13-2 lead.
Callear and McPherson would both reach to load the bases, setting up a Thetga single to bring in Kapr.
Gardner then doubled in two more runs for a 16-2 NEB lead.
Pelka would single in Thetga for a 17-2 score. After an out Tompkins would bring in Gardner on a fielder’s choice for an 18-2 ball game.
Callear led off the third with a hit, followed by McPherson reaching on an error.
After an out Gardner drove in both for a 20-2 lead. Gardner was later driven in by Larnard for the 21-2 final.
NEB (5-11) will host NPL on Tuesday.
