THE WEEK AHEAD: DISTRICT TRACK AND BASEBALL START THIS WEEK AS IT'S MAKE OR BREAK FOR SOME TEAMS (May 10, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTrack and field head to the District IV Championships this week while the regular season for baseball and softball wraps up. The baseball playoffs will start on Saturday for some teams.
TRACK & FIELD
Thursday, May 14District IV Championships at Milton, 3:30 p.m.: Half the field events and a few track events will be on this day. On the track will be finals for the 4x800 and the 2-mile while there will be prelims for the sprints in between.
Saturday, May 16District IV Championships at Milton, 9:30 a.m.: The field events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the track events to start at 10 a.m.
BASEBALL
Monday, May 11Troy (13-5) at Canton (7-12), 4:30 p.m.: A rivalry match-up which will be the season ender for the Warriors. Troy is still fighting for playoff positioning with two games left.
Towanda (8-10) at Notre Dame, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights need to win their final two games, beginning with the Crusaders, in order to make districts.
Wyalusing (3-16) at Tunkhannock, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams finish up the season on the road at the Tigers.
Tuesday, May 12Troy (13-5) at Athens (15-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans nearly knocked off the defending league champions earlier in the season, falling 13-11. Athens comes in on an 8-game win streak.
Towanda (8-10) at Neumann (3-11), 4:30 p.m.: The Knights head down south to end the regular season. If they win their final two games they’ll play on Saturday.
Saturday, May 16District IV Championships: The Class AA tournament will start this day. Troy has already clinched with Towanda battling to get in. The Trojans are currently the fifth seed while if the Knights make it in they would be either the ninth or 10th seed.
SOFTBALL
Monday, May 11Troy (7-10) at Canton (6-11), 4:30 p.m.: The Trojans still have a shot at districts if they win their last three games beginning with the Warriors. They’ll also have Athens and South Williamsport left.
South Williamsport (5-11) at NEB (5-13), 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers play host to a South team that’s gone 4-1 in their last five games.
Tuesday, May 12Troy (7-10) at Athens (12-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a loss to Hughesville. They’ll need a win here to clinch the NTL softball title, while Troy needs a win here to make districts.
Towanda (14-3) at Tunkhannock, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights finish the regular season on the road as they take on District II power Tunkhannock.
Canton (6-11) at Wyalusing (13-6), 4:30 p.m.: The Rams are coming off a loss to Wellsboro while Canton is looking to break a 3-game losing streak.
Friday, May 15Canton (6-11) at Montgomery (13-4), 4:30 p.m.: The season finale for the Warriors as they take on the District IV, Class A leading Red Raiders.
