Corning sophomore Delaney Abel shot under-par in both her dual match and performed well for Team New York in a showcase match, while Elmira senior Logan December and Athens junior Kam Wheeler had big weeks on the diamond. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 2.

CORNING'S ABEL NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Shot a 2-under 33 for Corning golf during their win over Waverly and Lansing at the Corning Country Club. 

In a match at Lansing, she shot a four-under 32. 

Abel also played for Team N.Y. in a match against Team Massachusetts, with N.Y. winning. She scored 1.5 out of a possible two points, winning one match and tying the other.

Honorable Mentions: Wyalusing's Addisyn Bly (softball), Cowanesque Valley's Lilah LaBarron (softball), Tioga's Kate Kithcart (Tioga), and Tioga's Vida Rossi (track & field).

ELMIRA'S DEMEMBER, ATHENS' WHEELER NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Remember threw a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts to beat Horseheads 2-0. Horseheads is 19th ranked in the state. 

Remember also had a hit, an RBI and scored two runs in a 12-0 win over No. 16 ranked Union-Endicott.

Wheeler was 7-for-10 at the plate with seven runs scored, three RBI an one stolen base. He was 4-for-4 in a 9-0 win over Cowanesque Valley. He also picked up the win on the mound, allowing zero earned runs on five hits in five innings, with four strikeouts and one walk.

Wheeler was also 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBI in a 19-7 win over North Penn-Mansfield.

Honorable Mentions: Towanda's Bailey Poll (tennis) and Wellsboro's Griffin Morral (baseball).
