NTL BASEBALL: TOWANDA TOPS NEUMANN TO QUALIFY FOR DISTRICTS (May 12, 2026)

WILLIAMSPORT — Towanda used an 8-run third inning to down Neumann, 13-0 in five innings, during non-league baseball action Tuesday to clinch a District IV, Class AAA playoff spot.

The Knights needed to win four straight to end the season to get to .500 and they did that, finishing the regular season 10-10.

Towanda jumped out with two runs in the top of the first, then took control of the game with their 8-run third for a 10-0 lead.

They added another run in the fourth, then finished with two runs in the fifth.

Lucas Vincent (4-for-4) had two triples with 3-RBI and three runs scored to lead the Knights as Shane Maghamez (2-for-4) had a double with 2-RBI.

Hagen Jones (1-for-2) scored, and drove in a run as Boom Thompson (1-for-2) scored twice. Brad Assante (1-for-3), Gabe Wolf, Gage Evans (1-for-3), Avery Butts (1-for-3), Harper Welles, Cooper Chamberlain (1-for-1), and Hudson Stevens all scored.

Thompson, Welles, Wolf, and Stevens each had an RBI, as well.

Maghamez started, and earns the win, going three innings with five strikeouts, two walks, and one hit.

Vincent tossed an inning with two strikeouts and a walk, while Jones pitched the final inning, striking out one with one hit.

Welles would draw a 1-out walk in the first, then scored on a Vincent triple. Vincent found home on a Maghamez hit for the 2-0 lead.

Vincent led off the third with a triple then scored on a passed ball.

Towanda got three straight hits from Assante, Evans, and Butts, with Assante scoring on Butts’ hit.

Stevens would draw a walk, followed by Jones drawing a walk to score Evans for a 5-0 lead.

Thompson then singled in Butts and Stevens to make it 7-0.

Welles would drive in Jones on a sacrifice fly, with Vincent plating Thompson with a hit for a 9-0 lead.

A Maghamez double made it 10-0 when it scored Vincent.

In the fourth Evans reached when he got hit, with Wolf running for him. Stevens would bring Wolf in on a ground out for an 11-0 lead.

Thompson reached on an error to start the fifth followed by Chamberlain hitting a single. 

A Vincent single scored Thompson while a Wolf sacrifice fly brought in Chamberlain. 

Towanda will wait to see who they play on Saturday in the first round of districts.
