NTL TRACK & FIELD: FIRST DAY OF D4 CHAMPIONSHIPS GOES OFF ON THURSDAY (May 13, 2026)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The heat sheets are out for the District IV Track and Field Championships, and it looks like there’s going to be plenty of stiff competition between the two days.

Here’s a preview for the first day of action down at Milton, with field starting at 3:30 p.m. and the track going off at 4 p.m.

GIRLS

In Class AA Towanda (10:02.43) is the highest seed of area teams, coming into the meet fourth. Other area schools putting in teams are Sullivan County, Wyalusing, Wellsboro, Williamson, and NP-Mansfield.


Hughesville (9:27.54) and Lewisburg (9:40.52) have already hit the state standard.


Athens is seeded fifth in the Class AAA field.

Wellsboro’s Piper Hoprich is the top seed in Class AA at 11.91. Other area sprinters in the field are Sullivan’s County Addisyn Templin and Alana Olson, Wyalusing’s Vayda Rought, Wellsboro’s Luna Moyer and Sophia Yoder, and Canton’s Davian Crowley. 


There are 10 girls seeded at 13 seconds and under with the top eight moving on from Thursday’s prelims to Saturday’s final.


In Class AAA Athens’ Abby Burgess (12.20) is the second seed behind Shikellamy’s Jilly Divert (12.10). Athen’s Bikula Wennie is also in the field.


The top eight move on to Saturday’s finals.

Wyalusing’s Lia Fischer (16.13) and Troy’s Kylee Roy (16.48) are seeded third and fourth in the high hurdles.


Towanda’s Katelyn Blokzyl, Williamson’s Elizabeth O’Neil, Wellsboro’s Jennifer Belz and Olive Twoey, and NPM’s Nora Furry are also in the field.


The top eight from the three heats will move on to the finals on Saturday.


In Class AAA Athens’ Lizzie Gorsline (16.74) is seeded sixth.

Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek (10:44.88) is the top seed in this event while other area runners are NPM’s Leila Garverick, Williamson’s Natalie Yonker, Lainey Hackett, and Maddison Fay, Sullivan County’s Zoey Reese, Towanda’s Maris Cobb, and NEB’s Sophie Bennett.


In Class AAA Athens’ Alissa Vough is in the field.


DISCUS

Canton’s Alexis McRoberts (134-feet, 11-inches) is the top seed in Class AA with Towanda’s Mya Maynard, Troy’s Emma Mickley, Williamson’s Sayde Loucks, and Canton’s Kendall Petrowski are also in the field.


LONG JUMP

Williamson’s Madalynn Bailey (18-feet, 3-inches) is the top seed in the Class AA field. Other area jumpers are Wyalusing’s Jenna Morningstar and Vayda Rought, Wellsboro’s Kristina Belz and Isla Twoey, and Troy’s Maddy Keeney.


HIGH JUMP

Athens’ Evelyn Panek (4-feet, 10-inches) is the fifth seed in Class AAA.


POLE VAULT

Athens’ Elizabeth Denlinger (8-feet, 6-inches) is seeded fourth in the Class AAA field.


TRIPLE JUMP

Athens’ Kaitlyn Leonard is in the Class AAA field.


JAVELIN

Athens’ Amelia Lezak (106-feet) is seeded fifth in the Class AAA field.


SHOT PUT

Athens’ Maleah Hadlock is in the Class AAA field.


BOYS

4x800 

NP-Mansfield (8:18.20) and Wellsboro (8:18.96) are seeded fifth and sixth in a very competitive field. Other area teams fielding relays are NEB, Troy, Sullivan County, and Wyalusing.


In Class AAA Athens is seeded fifth.

Towanda’s Jazick Brown (11.19) is seeded ninth in the Class AA field. Also in the field from the area are Wyalusing’s Tyler Caplan, Troy’s Jasper Miller, NEB’s Eli Stanton, and Williamson’s Josh Teague.


The field is very competitive with 10 sprinters seeded 11.20 and under. The top eight will move on to Saturday’s finals. 


Athens’ Ryder Morley is in the Class AAA field.

Wellsboro’s Brayden Benjamin (16.64) is the highest seeded area runner in the Class AA field, seeded ninth overall.


Also in the field are Wyalusing’s Jonathan Earle and Jack Fischer, Towanda’s Aiden Blokzyl, and Canton’s John Whitehead.


The top eight move on to the finals on Saturday.


Athens’ Shayan Ankam and Chase Ingram are in the Class AAA field.

Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster (9:35.90) is the second seed with Wellsboro’s Henry Whitney and Max Macias, NEB’s Jackson Martin, and Towanda’s Emmett Klees also in th e field.


In Class AAA Athens’ Graham Wanck (9:43.30) is the top seed while teammates Alex Acres and Parker Wanck are also in the field.


LONG JUMP

Wyalusing’s Dylan Johns (21-feet, 6-inches) is the fourth seed in Class AA while Sullivan County’s Tucker Blasi and Troy’s Cameron Morey are right behind him.


Wyalusing’s Shay Gartland, and Wellsboro’s Liam Stevens are also in the field.


JAVELIN

NPM’s Deakon Valentine (173-feet, 8-inches) is seeded fourth in the Class AA field with teammate Brody Grinnell, along with Wyalusing’s Ethan VanderPool and Conner Earle, and Towanda’s Kolton McPeak also in the field.


SHOT PUT

Sayre’s Hudson Malanoski (48-feet, 4-inches) is seeded sixth in the Class AA field with Wyalusing’s Josh Palfreyman and Canton’s Wyatt Hilton also slated to throw.


HIGH JUMP

Athens’ Gavin Ross is in the Class AAA field.


POLE VAULT

Athens’ Chase Ingram (11-feet, 6-inches) is seeded sixth in the Class AAA field.


TRIPLE JUMP

Athens’ Iziah Bailey is in the Class AAA field.


DISCUS

Athens’ Brenden Comstock (143-feet, 5-inches) is seeded fifth in the Class AAA field. Teammate Hayden Bartlow will also be competing.
