SHIPPENSBURG — It was a bit of a bittersweet day for Towanda's Brynn Woodruff. The senior took her second straight silver in the javelin at the PIAA Track and Field Championships, but for the second straight year she came in hoping for gold.

She threw 131-feet, 6-inches to take second behind Shenango's Anna McKinley (139-feet, 10-inches).

"It was alright but I knew I could have done better," Woodruff said.

She was the most consistent thrower on the day with four throws over 120-feet. Woodruff opened with a throw of 121-feet, 6-inches, which was good enough to get her on the podium.

It was her third throw that went over 130-feet, while her fourth attempt was 127-feet, 3-inches.

"Unfortunately, Brynn did not get the result she wanted but second place is nothing to scoff at, and is something she should be very proud of," said Towanda coach Casey Ellis. "If you were to take the average of everyone's throws Brynn would have won, but unfortunately that's not how it works. Second place, and the most consistent thrower in the state, is something Brynn should be proud of, and it is something we are very proud of her achieving."

Towanda will have three athletes going Saturday morning with Marin Maynard in the pole vault, while Emmett Klees and Maris Cobb will be going in the boys and girls 3200.
