It was a year of growth for Troy softball as they had to rebuild from graduation losses, and did so with plenty of newcomers on the roster. While they just missed making the playoffs, few teams showed as much improvement as the Trojans did by year's end.
"We, as a coaching staff, are very proud of the improvements that our young team made this season, and look forward to building on this foundation for the next few years to come," said Troy coach Sadie Hardy.
The Trojans went 9-11 on the season, opening the year with a 12-2 win over South Williamsport.
Their next three were heartbreaking losses to three playoff teams - Wyalusing (2-1), NP-Liberty (3-1), and Wellsboro (9-8).
They bounced back with wins over Williamson (4-0) and Canton (8-1).
The Trojans fell to Towanda (8-0) but came back with a win over Wellsboro (8-7).
That's when the Trojans hit a 5-game skid, though had close losses to NPL (4-2) and Athens (3-1).
An 11-2 win over NEB got them back.
A late rally against Jersey Shore (5-4) came up short, but it kick started a 4-game win streak as they beat Sayre (15-4), CV (10-1), South Williamsport (7-0), and Canton (10-2).
They needed a win over Athens, but fell 1-0 to the eventual league champs.
Lone senior Lauren Reed led the team at the plate, hitting .355 with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, and 18-RBI.
Sophomore Erinn Knapp did yeoman's work in the circle, tossing 114 1/3-innings with 129 strikeouts against 35 walks as she sported a 1.714 ERA.
She hit .309 at the late with two triples and three home runs.
Haidyn Watson batted .328 and had a team high four home runs and 21 runs scored, while adding 12-RBI.
Maddyson Muir batted .352 with six doubles and 16-RBI.
Sydnee Bellows also hit over .300 (.317) with 16 runs scored.
Reed will be a big loss but they return everybody else, along with youngsters Delaney Kendall, Izzy Renzi, Danielle Roy, Aleiyah Kutt, and Aubree Kenyon, as the Trojans look to make the next step in 2027.
