TROY — Troy nearly rallied to overcome an early deficit as they fell to Wellsboro, 11-9, during District 15 Majors Softball action Friday.

Wellsboro led 5-3 after one with the two teams each scoring a run in the second. Wellsboro would extend the lead to 8-4 going into the fourth.

Troy started the comeback there, out scoring Wellsboro 2-1. Wellsboro would get Troy in the fifth, out scoring them 2-1 for an 11-7 lead.

The Trojans rallied one more time in the sixth, scoring two runs, but couldn't quite get the comeback.

Piper M (2-for-3) had a double with two runs scored, and 2-RBI, to lead Troy as Leyna S (1-for-3) had a triple with two runs scored.

Gabriella F (1-for-3) had a triple with an RBI and a run scored, with Mariska P (1-for-3) hitting a double while also taking home.

Baylie N (1-for-2), Jocelyn S, and Haylee E all scored, with Haylie adding an RBI.

Haylee tossed the first four innings with two strikeouts, while Mariska pitched the fifth with two strikeouts.

Troy will now await to see who they play in bracket play, which starts next week.
