YOUTH: TOWANDA MAJORS BASEBALL USES BIG FIFTH INNING TO DOWN ATHENS (June 24, 2026)

TOWANDA — Towanda used a 5-run fifth inning to top Athens, 9-4, during District 15 Majors Baseball pool play action Tuesday.
Athens led 1-0 after one, with Towanda getting on the scoreboard in the fourth with a 3-run top half.
Athens knotted tings up at 3-3 after a 2-run bottom half.
Then came Towanda's 5-run top fifth to go up 8-3. Athens cut it to 8-4, but Towanda got the run back in the top of the sixth for the 5-run win.
Cruz (2-for-3) scored a run as Jagger (1-for-3) had a double with a run scored. Logan (1-for-2), Brayden, Grant, Colton, and Emerson (1-for-2) alls cored.
Ben (1-for-1) scored twice and drove in a run, with Cayson (1-for-3), and Colton each getting an RBI.
Cayson started, and went 2 2/3-innings with five strikeouts, as Cruz tossed two innings with six strikeouts.
Jagger went one-third of an inning, with Logan going the final inning, striking out two.
Towanda will travel to Canton on Wednesday.
