WYSOX — Towanda Minors Softball rolled past Wellsboro, 12-2 in five innings, during District 15 action Wednesday.
Towanda jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, then out scored Wellsboro 5-1 in the second for a 6-run lead.
After a scoreless third inning Towanda tacked on three more in the fourth to extend their advantage to 10-1.
Wellsboro got one back in the top half of the fifth, but Towanda ended the game with a 2-run bottom half.
Eme Maye (2-for-2) scored three times and drove in three runs as Violet White (2-for-2) had 2-RBI.
Gracie Vanderpool (2-for-2) had an RBI as Kendra Cashdollar (2-for-3) scored a run. Adley Miller and Charlee Wheeler both scored twice with Brylie Blumenauer, Jonica Owen, Charlotte Wickwire, and Olivia Willey all crossing home. Bluemanuer also drove in a run.
Vanderpool went the first three innings, striking out seven, while Maye tossed the final two innings, with five strikeouts.
Towanda will host Athens in Championship bracket action on Friday with a 5:30 p.m. start.
