WELLSBORO — Canton lost a tight 11-7 battle to Wellsboro during District 15 Majors Baseball bracket action Friday.

Wellsboro led 6-0 after the second, then scored two more in the top of the third for an 8-0 lead.

Canton rallied with a 5-run bottom half for 3-run game.

Wellsboro out scored Canton 2-1 in the fourth, with Wellsboro adding another run in the fifth.

Canton had one more rally in them, scoring a run in the sixth, but couldn't quite complete the comeback.

Weston Driscoll (2-for-2) scored twice and drove in a run for Canton with Christian Moore (2-for-2) also scoring.

Tommy Thompson (1-for-3) scored, and drove in a run with Hunter Burr (1-for-2) getting 2-RBI and a double. Grayson Pepper (1-for-3) had a double with an RBI.

Tanner Gowin (1-for-3), Lincoln Holcomb, and Barrett Pepper (1-for-2) all crossed home.

Thompson went the first 1 2/3-innings, with Gowin going the next 1 2/3-innings with one strikeout.

Sawyer Schultz tossed 2-innings with four strikeouts, while Moore pitched the final two-thirds.

Canton will travel to Sayre on Sunday in elimination bracket action.
