TOWANDA — Towanda Majors baseball edged Troy in a pitcher's duel, 2-1, during District 15 bracket play on Tuesday.
With the win Towanda hosts Wellsboro on July 6 while Troy travels to Athens on July 2.
Towanda led 1-0 with a second inning run, then picked up an insurance run in the fifth.
They needed it as Troy rallied in the sixth with a run but Towanda stranded the tying run on third.
Jagger Vargason (1-for-1) and Cameron Whitson (1-for-2) scored their two runs as Colton Mulcahy (1-for-2) and Will Eberlin drove them in.
Cayson Vanderpool went 5 2/3-innings with 11 strikeouts, while Cruz Olvera got the final out with a strikeout.
Isaac Watson (1-for-3) tripled for Troy as Joshua Mueller scored their run.
River Barth went four innings with five strikeouts for Troy, as Jase Sheeley fanned two in one inning of work.
