YOUTH: TROY MINORS HANGS ON TO TOP WELLSBORO (July 2, 2026)

TROY — Troy Held off a late Wellsboro charge to pick up the 14-13 win during District 15 Minors Baseball elimination bracket play Thursday.
Troy led by as much as 8-0 early with two runs in the first, one in the second, and five in the top of the fourth.
Wellsboro began their rally in the bottom half, scoring six runs to make it a 2-run game.
Troy came back with five more runs in the fifth, but Wellsboro didn't go away, scoring six during their turn at the plate for a 13-12 contest.
In the top of the sixth Miles Sparling scored on a Carter Redline hit to put Troy up two.
In the bottom half Wellsboro cut it to a 1-run game with two runners on but Troy's Reed Hurlburt struck out the final two batters to secure the win.
Austin Blasz (2-for-2) and a triple with two runs scored, and an RBI, as Drew Wheeler (2-for-2) had a double with three runs scored and 2-RBI.
Clayton Morgan (2-for-2) doubled, tripled, and scored twice, as Colton Petris (2-for-2) scored three times and drove in a run.
Braxton Spencer (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored, while Redline (2-for-3) had the RBI.
Hurlburt (1-for-2) and Sparling (1-for-3) both scored and drove in a run as Corban Breckinridge (1-for-2) had an RBI.
Lincoln Bailey scored, and Jonas Schap (1-for-3) had a hit.
Petris started, and went 3 2/3-innings with three strikeouts, followed by Blasz, who went an inning with one strikeout.
Hurlburt went the final 1 1/3-innings with three strikeouts.
Troy travels to Tioga-Lawrenceville on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start.
