TOWANDA — Towanda Majors Baseball suffered their first loss of the season, falling 4-3 to Wellsboro during District 15 bracket play Monday.

It was scoreless through three when Towanda pushed two across in the top of the fourth. 

Wellsboro tied it up in the bottom half of the inning, then took a 4-2 lead with two runs in the fifth.

Towanda cut it to a 1-run game in the sixth, but when they tried to tie it up on a steal of home Wellsboro caught them for the final out.

Cayson Vanderpool 92-for-3) had two doubles with a run scored as Jagger Vargason scored twice.

Logan McNeal (1-for-3) and Bentley Flynn (1-for-1) also had hits, with Flynn's a double. Cameron Whitson drove in a run.

Vanderpool started, and went 4 1/3-innings with 12 strikeouts, as Cruz Olvera went the final two-thirds with two strikeouts.

Towanda will face Athens on July 8 in the elimination bracket final.
