YOUTH: TOWANDA HOLDS OFF CANTON IN MINORS BASEBALL (July 8, 2026)

TOWANDA — Towanda Minors Baseball held on to beat Canton, 9-7, during District 15 elimination bracket action Wednesday.

Towanda led 5-3 after one only to see Canton chip away at their lead with a run in the second, then two more in the third to take a 6-5 advantage.

The teams traded a run each in the fourth, then came Towanda's 3-run fifth to propel them to the win.

Cole Spencer (2-for-3) doubled with two runs scored, and 2-RBI, as Callan Willey (2-for-3) also scored twice and drove win a run.

Cole Williams (1-for-2) had a double with two runs scored, and Maddox Hicks (1-for-2) doubled, scored, and had an RBI.

Eric Towner (1-for-3), and Rayden Bailey both scored as Chase Lewis (1-for-2) drove in a run.

Bailey started, and went three innings for Towanda with five strikeouts, followed by Greyson Irvine fanning two in one inning of work.

Williams went the final two innings with two strikeouts.

Dean Pepper (2-for-3) had a double with two runs scored for Canton as Ike Preston (1-for-2) scored twice.

Beau Bassett, William Finogle, and Dawson Hill all crossed home as Abe Pepper, and Camden Eberlin (1-for-3) each had an RBI.

Dean Pepper started, and went 3 1/3-innings with eight strikeouts. Bassett would strike out three in one inning of action, while Hill tossed two-thirds of an inning, striking out two.

Canton went 4-4 on the season.

Towanda will face Southern Tioga on Friday in Sayre.
