TUNKHANNOCK — RTL went undefeated through District 33 play, culminating with their 11-6 win over Blue Ridge to claim the inaugural Minors Baseball title on Saturday.
Blue Ridge led 2-1 through three but RTL out scored them 10-4 the rest of the way to get the win.
"It's just great that we have the chance to have a good ball team," RTL's Thomas Insinger said. "And we dominated."
Insinger (2-for-2) had a double, 3-RBI, and a run scored for RTL as Kase Morningstar (2-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored.
Eli Howard and Bryson Warner (1-for-2) each scored twice, with Warner also driving in a run.
Dax Cogswell (1-for-2) scored and drove in a run, with Emmett Benninger (1-for-3) drove in two runs.
Matthew Shaffer (1-for-1) scored twice, with Gavin Carr, and Huck Lambert both scoring.
Warner started on the hill, going two innings with two strikeouts, while Logan Otis came in for the four innings. He got the win, fanning two.
RTL found themselves in an unfamiliar position, being down 2-0 after two innings, though Blue Ridge took a lead on them early in their last meeting.
"I just kept telling everyone we're up," Insinger said. "We're all fine."
It was hit RBI double in the third that changed the momentum of the game. It got them on the scoreboard (2-1), and they went on to take the lead with a three runs in the fourth, then put the game away with seven runs in the fifth.
"It was the best feeling," Insinger said about driving in his team's first run.
Blue Ridge didn't fold, retying the game with a run in the top of the fifth, but rallying with two runs in the sixth, but they couldn't complete the comeback.
RTL moves on to Section III play in District 13 as they take on the hosts on July 18.
For now, though, they're going to enjoy this with their fans.
"It felt great to know that we have a community that has this greatness environment," said Insinger.
