TOWANDA — Towanda boys soccer earned one of the biggest wins in recent memory with a 3-1 victory over NTL power Wellsboro on Thursday.

Ben Shrawder had two goals with Josh Maye scoring the other. Lucas Vincent and Walter Foley each had an assist.

"All our boys played an awesome game, even with the rain delay," said Towanda coach Tom Lambert. "Our passes were smooth, and the communication on the field was outstanding. We've worked so hard, and all that work is paying off on the field."

It was 1-0 at the half thanks to a Maye goal off Foley's assist at the 18:57 mark.

That mark stuck until just under 10 minutes left in the game when Shrawder buried a penalty kick to make it 2-0.

A few minutes later Vincent found Shrawder for his second goal of the night.

Wellsboro scored late to spoil the clean sheet.

Blaiz Nichols made 14 saves for the Knights, as Wellsboro out shot them 15-5, and had a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

Towanda (3-0) travels to Galeton next Tuesday.
