Wyalusing (0-2) hits the road for the first time this season while Canton (1-1) enjoys their third straight home game as these two teams clash for an NTL Small School tilt Friday.

The Rams are coming off two tough losses to Athens and Muncy, though coach Jeffrey Hindman has seen improvement from his young team.

"It's just been about getting those in-game reps and seeing what we can do as a young team," he said. "They've been working hard in practice, but that will never be the same as actually playing the game against an opponent. While we aren't satisfied with the outcome of either game, it's been important as a coaching staff to show the team the improvements and positives. We have definitely seen some guys step up and we are looking to work them into the game plan more, give them more chances to excel and help the team. Every team has their own strengths and it's my job to identify those strengths and leverage them to get the win. It's been a struggle as I learn the ropes, but the team has responded really well this week and they are anxious to get back out on the field again."

Canton had a big rally to beat CV in week one, then fell to a buzzsaw in Montgomery last Friday.

"Canton played a complete game against CV," said Hindman. "They went down early, but they never stopped fighting and came back for the win. Montgomery was another tough test and watching film you could see the same fight all game, even if they came out on the other end of that game. Canton is going to put pressure on us all game, offense and defense. They have a strong running back and quarterback duo with receivers who can create separation that leads to big plays. We have to stay disciplined and respect both run and pass if we want to find success. We have to find ways to move the ball, sustain a drive and finally get some points on the board. Canton does a good job of getting defenders to the ball, putting pressure on quarterbacks and coming up with turnovers."

The Warriors have shown a budding pass game early this season, and that's one area that has been a focus for the Rams.

"We have to put pressure on the quarterback and do everything we can to make sure he doesn't have time to sit and find the open receiver," said Hindman. "Stay disciplined in coverage, keep tabs on every receiver and not give up an easy throw due to a blown coverage. We've seen some high quality passing attacks in the first two weeks and Canton can do the same through the air. It's going to take a full team effort with everyone staying focused on their job."

KEYS TO THE GAME

Wyalusing - Pass defense. They forced some third and longs, and even a fourth and long, last week against Muncy, but the Indians used the deep ball to pick up those first downs. Wyalusing will need to be able to get stops there to get their defense off the field.

Canton - Contain Wiley Trobaugh. The young quarterback was able to make some plays with his arm last week, and was probably the brightest spot in their offense coming out of the game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Landry Tinna, Wyalusing, WR - Showed good chemistry with Trobaugh has he had five catches last week. 

Marcus Solomon, Canton, LB - The team's leading tackler, he had six tackles last week against Montgomery, and will be called upon again to slow down the Wyalusing run game, and pressure the quarterback.
