FOOTBALL: TOWANDA HAS ANOTHER TOUGH ROAD TEST IN MUNCY (September 17, 2026)

Towanda (2-1) continues to be road warriors this week as they head down to Muncy (2-1) for an NTL cross-over football game at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The Knights are coming off a tough loss at Troy where they turned the ball over six times.
"There are a couple of things we worked on this week," said Towanda coach Jamie Wecker. "We put a lot of time into making sure we minimize our turnovers, for sure, but we also had some blown coverages, and some missed blocks that we need to improve on. When you play a good team like Troy those little mistakes are amplified, and you can't make them and expect to win. We know we're playing several more rally good football teams this season, and so we've got to really focus on fixing those boo-boos that keep us from being our best."
Since opening the season with a 14-7 loss to Warrior Run Muncy has out scored opponents 101-0 in back to back wins.
"Muncy presents a lot of different problems than Troy did," said Wecker. "They're a spread team, they've got really good athletes that they like to get the ball to. They also have some good athletes in the run game. The quarterback is a good runner, as well, as a heck of a passer, and he has some legitimate weapons that can hurt us if we're not disciplined defensively. Defensively, they present us with a little bit of an issue, as well, just because we're not used to seeing the type of defense that they're running, so a lot of time went in to preparing this week for that, and we'll see how well we prepared come tomorrow night."
KEYS TO THE GAME
Towanda - Stop the big pass play. Towanda did a decent job on the run last week, but Troy was able to convert on 10-for-11 pass plays, including two 40-yarders that set up touchdowns. Muncy has big play capabilities as well, and the Knights can't afford to do the hard work in the trenches only to watch it go to waste in one pass.
Muncy - Slow down Towanda's athletes. The Knights showed in spurts last week what their top athletes can do when they get into the open space. Speed is hard to simulate during the week, and the Knights have oodles of it.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Reese Sluyter, Towanda, QB - A big game from Sluyter will be key for the Knights. If Muncy looks to focus on the run game Sluyter will have to make the big throws to make the Indians pay.
Noah Walters, Muncy, QB - Walters had two touchdown passes and a running score in their win over Wyalusing two weeks ago, showing off his dual threat capabilities.
