NEWVILLE — Sullivan County got a taste of the new state cross-country course on Saturday with the boys taking second in the Class A varsity race.

The Griffins finished with 91 points just behind winners Shalom Christian Academy (87).

Calen Sweigart (17:24.6) was ninth overall for the Griffins with Carter Blasi (18:02.1) 20th, Chase Preston (18:17.3) 22nd, and Seth Sweigart (18:91.10 in 24th.

Andrew Kapec (19:34.8) rounded out their scorers in 53rd.

The Lady Griffins scored 130 points to take fourth in the Class A girls race.

Zoey Reese (22:28.4) and Addisyn Templin (22:29.3) went 27th and 28th to lead the Griffins, with Paige Jordan (22:31.9) taking 30th.

Kara Jordan (23:05.6) was 40th, and Adilynn Thibodeault (23:12) finished 42nd.

Sullivan County hosts Towanda and NPM on Tuesday.
