TOWANDA — Wyalusing used a late Lia Fischer goal to rally past Towanda, 2-1, during NTL girls soccer action Tuesday.

After trading penalty kicks to knot the game at 1-all Fischer scored on a blast from 35-yards out with 4:50 left to win the game.

"Our girls did a good job battling through a tough Towanda defense, and Mya always plays tough in goal," said Wyalusing coach Katie Fischer. "After going down 1-0 early on a penalty, I was so proud of how the girls stayed composed and continued to fight forward. I was proud of Vayda for finding the back of the net when it counted and then Lia pushed us through. But neither of those goals happen without the whole team supporting each other, the girls are growing as a team and learning the importance that each player has."

Ellie Cook put the Knights up 1-0 with a penalty kick just over five minutes into the game.

Towanda made the lead stick until 22:42 left in the game when Rought nailed her penalty kick to knot things up.

Wyalusing had a 14-3 edge in shots and 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Mya Maynard made 15 saves in net for Towanda, while Sierra Gromley had four saves for the Rams.
