Last year Wyalusing's Aidan Neiley was forced to drop out of the District IV, Class A Championship race when he was well under a state qualifying berth. He hopes to use that as a learning experience for this year.

"I want to try to run more my race," said Neiley. "Last year I went out with the top two runners, and should have stayed back a couple more seconds. I just have to worry about pacing."

This fall he's been a dual sport athlete as both a scoring member for the cross-country team, and for the golf team. Neiley has done his best to juggle both teams.

"It just depends on the week," he said. "This week I've been focusing more on golf because we have NTLs, but as soon as golf's over I'm fully committed to cross-country."

It hasn't been easy for Neiley as he's had to get up at 6 a.m. some mornings to get his runs in.

"It's definitely tiring," he said. "You've got to worry about getting good sleep, and good, quality sleep, and going to bed on time."

As for districts this year, he's confident he can be one of the top five individuals and be able to make it to states.

"Then hopefully be a top finisher at states," Neiley said. "Not top 10, but possibly a medal."

INAGURAL ALUMNI RACE ON OCTOBER 17

Calling all NTL cross-country alumni, after the NTL Coaches Invitational awards there will be an alumni race with the gun going off around 1 p.m.

Sign up is day of with no entry free or prizes, simply guts, glory, and bragging rights.

There will be team scoring.
