Troy (3-1) is coming off one of their toughest regular season stretches in recent memory, and after an early hiccup they've won three straight.

"I feel our first four games to start the season was as tough a start as anybodies," Troy coach Jim Smith said. "It’s been physical and we were tested in different ways each week. We have continued to improve a little bit every week, feel fortunate to be relatively healthy and are excited to refine ourselves, get confident and finish the back end of the season in playoff form. We cannot settle , be satisfied and become complacent. This really isn’t about our opponent and what the end result of a game is. This is about being honest about our  performance and seeking ways to get better, that is the only way it happens."

Now they hit the road for the first time as they head out to Wellsboro (1-3), who are coming off a tough loss to Canton.

"Wellsboro came  tough loss last week," Smith said. "They had critical injuries and despite that fought to the very end in a very close game. Wellsboro is well coached. They are very creative and do a great job pressuring teams with their formations and play concepts. We cannot fall a sleep on Wellsboro."

KEYS TO THE GAME

Troy - Keep the turnovers to a minimum. They did better last week with just one turnover but it's been a reoccurring theme for the Trojans the prior two weeks.

Wellsboro - Find some offensive continuity. It's tough when your QB goes down for the game in the first drive, but the lack of first downs for the game put the Hornet defense in a tough spot. After a week of practice look for Wellsboro to be sharper.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Reed Palmer, Troy, RB/DE - Palmer's a 3-year starter on defense, and is one of the toughest guys to block in the league. The Hornets will have a handful with him.

Reed Richardson, Wellsboro, LB/FB - Richardson has 32 tackles on the season, and look for him to get some more carries this week, too.
