NTL GIRLS' TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING SWEEPS QUAD MEET WITH TOWANDA, NEB (2021-05-04)

WYALUSING — The Wyalusing swept a quad meet in girls’ action, beating two NTL opponents - Towanda (83-67) and NEB (104-26) - along with a non-league opponent in Northumberland Christian (82-58). 

Towanda defeated NCC 96-49, and NEB 119-24, while the Panthers fell to NCC 78-28.


Wyalusing’s Marie Scarborough (7-feet, 6-inches) won the pole vault with Towanda’s Olivia Sparbanie (7-feet) second, Ram Priscilla Newton (6-feet, 6-inches) third, and Towanda’s Arienne Strickland (6-feet) fourth.


Wyalusing’s Olivia Haley (13.0) won the 100, with Towanda taking the next two spots between Porschia Bennett (13.2), and McKenna Schafer (13.7), as NEB’s Melanie Shumway (13.8) was fourth.


The Knights took three of the top four spots in the 100 hurdles, led by Hannah Ryck (18.9). Kelci Carle (19.5) was second, and Ava Gannon (22.8) took fourth.


NEB’s Paige Howell (93-feet, 7-inches) won the discus, as Towanda’s Hannah Risch (80-feet, 2-inches) was second, and Ram Marissa Johnson (65-feet, 6-inches) came in fourth.


NEB’s Melanie Shumway (2:38) edged out Wyalusing’s Catherine Brown (2:39.2) to win the 800, as Ram Sierra Allen (2:50.4) came in fourth.


Bennett (5-feet, 6-inches) won the high jump, and just clipped the board at a personal best 5-feet, 8-inches. The Rams took the next three spots with Hannah Ely (4-feet, 8-inches), Madison Armitage (4-feet, 8-inches), and Newton (4-feet, 4-inches).


Wyalusing’s 4x400 relay (4:35.8) just beat Towanda’s (4:39.6).


Johnson (25-feet, 9 1/2-inches) was second in the shot put, followed by NEB’s Emma Neuber (25-feet, 6-inches), and Towanda’s Erin Barrett (23-feet, 8-inches).


The Knights took three of the top four spots in the 300 hurdles, as Ryck (57.4) won, followed by Carle (58.0) in second, and Gannon (1:09) in third.


Wyalusing’s 4x800 won in 12:57.


Allen (5:59), and Carina Beebe (6:09) went third and fourth in the 1600.


Ryck (29-feet, 7 1/2-inches) won the triple jump, as Newton (29-feet, 2 1/2-inches) took second, Sparbanie (28-feet, 10-inches) was third, and Wyalusing’s Layla Botts (27-feet, 7-inches) came in fourth.


Wyalusing’s 4x100 relay (53.9) won, with Towanda (55.3) second.


Bennett (1:02) won the 400, followed by Shumway (1:04), Wyalusing’s Kassandra Kerin (1:08), and Knight Kelsea Allen-Smith (1:10).


Bennett (27.6) also won the 200, just edging out Haley (27.7), while Shafer (29.3) came in fourth.


Carina Beebe (13:45) was second in the 3200, followed by Kayla Beebe (13:50) in third.


Botts (14-feet, 1/2-inch) was second in the long jump as Sparbanie (13-feet, 11 1/2-inches) and Schafer (13-feet, 10 1/2-inches) were second, and third.


Barrett (89-feet, 10-inches) was second in the javelin, while Johnson (80-feet, 1-inch) took third, and Howell (79-feet, 11-inches) finished fourth.
